Onitsha market fire outbreak:CP Orutugu advocates tripartite committee to aid investigation

Anambra Commissioner of police CP Ikioye Orutugu has advocated for tripartite committee to ascertain the cause of fire incident that consumed goods worth billions of naira at ifejika Street by Nwangene road Onitsha main market.
The Commissioner who visited the scene expressed dismay over reoccurrence of fire outbreak in the Onitsha market insisting that the committee will discuss and proffer lasting solution to the problem.
He said that the committee will be made up of the Nigeria Police , the state government representatives and members of market leadership.
In his words"Already we have security issues,let us face it ; but a situation where goods worth billions are burt everytime is against the state economy"
"If markets continue to be burnt buying and selling will be diverted to another place"
"If we begin to hear about burning of goods it means that buying and selling will suffer and move to other place. We don’t have oil and gas in the State. It is through the buying and selling that we raise money to fund projects in the State ” he stated.
While blaming some traders who are supporting sit at home order, the CP said the Monday sit at home is crippling the economy of the state noting that only those who want to be poor should continue to comply with the order.
He assured those who wants to come out to do their normal business on Monday of absolute security .
The CP said the Police is negotiating with state and federal government to improve security amenities to fight crimes in the state .
Meanwhile the Commissioner of police who led the patrol team in onitsha on Monday,was received by the executive members of Bus Drivers Welfare Association in Anambra..

Addressing the group, he urged them to see Mondays as every other market days insisting that security Operatives are in place to protect the citizenry.
According to the CP, " Although the Monday sit at home has become part of ndi Anambra but you can agree with me that you are not doing yourself any good by sitting at home on Monday,
Responding the Chairman of the association Tochukwu Aniagbaoso said they are in solidarity with the government of Soludo and commended the commissioner of Police for fighting crimes in the state without fear.
