Anambra Activist Battles Police Over Kidnap  Of Estate Businessman, LP Guber Candidate, And Lawmaker

An Anambra Based Human Right Activist Comerade Osita Obi has resolved to battle the State Police Command over the kidnap of  an Estate Businessman Mr Benjamin Ezenma , Labor Party gubernatorial candidate Chief Obiora Agbasimelo' and the lawmaker representing Onitsha North 2 state Constituency Mr Justice Azuka .

Recall that Obiora Agbasimelo' was kidnaped during the gubernatorial election campaigns over two years ago while Mr Benjamin Ezenma aka Big Ben and Justice Azuka were Kidnaped in last year respectively.

According to the leader of the planned protest and a Human Right Activist Comerade Osita Obi the protest is predicated on what he described as the failure of the Anambra Police Command to either secure their release or fish out those behind the dastardly act.

Anambra State-based human rights activist and convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, Comrade Osita Obi, has called on the state police command to investigate the kidnappers of Benjamin Ezenma, alias BigBen, Anambra State governorship candidate in 2021, Obiora Agbasimelo, and Honourable Azuka, representing Onitsha South 2.

According to him, if the police fail to take substantial action regarding the kidnappings in the state, he will be forced to organize a protest at the police headquarters in Awka to compel them to act.

"Where is BigBen? Where is Agbasimelo? Where is Azuka? I wish they are found, and if they are not, let the security operatives identify the kidnappers. Their kidnappings are no longer just a security problem, but a public issue," he stated.

He expressed his satisfaction with the way the Directorate of State Security Services (DSS) is operating in the state, but regretted the police's inaction.

"I want to commend the DSS in the state; they are doing a wonderful job. But as for the police, I have lost my confidence in them. I am not confident in the police. What you see them doing at roadblocks is extortion. This shows that the leadership of the Nigerian police is doing something wrong. If you go around the streets, you will see how these officers are extorting money from the public instead of focusing on their jobs. It's time they engage in security surveillance to protect the people of Anambra State," he stated.

According to him, Anambra State should not be a dumping ground for retiring police officers looking to make more money for their retirement.

On the Agunachemba program in the state, he commended Governor Charles Soludo for the initiative, noting that many people had called him, saying the program came very late.

"I told them that God's timing is the best, and that the state is getting better with the Agunachemba initiative," he said.
