A non governmental organzation under the auspices of 'The ultimate Business Women & farmers Association of Nigeria' (UBWFAN)

has called for partnership with security agencies to help curb the menace of Insecurity in the country.

According to UBWFAN, women are pivotal in the developmental processes both at home and in the society, thus the need for security agencies to also structure program that will assist women in the fight against crime.

The group made this known during the National Convention 2024, with the Theme: Role of Women in Security & Development Process, held at the King David Hotel, Awka on 13th Jan, 2024.

In an address presented by the National President, Hon Mrs Nkiru Nwagbo, she explained that insecurity have caused a big damage in the society, thus, the need for UBWFAN to wade in and contribute towards the security development process.

"We have in the last few years witnessed an unprecedented loss in lives and property across the country. Many communities have been deleted and most families ruined because of insecurity. Criminals seems determined to take control with the pattern of criminality becoming complex".

"The law enforcement agencies appear, in instances, overwhelmed by the sheer effrontery and capacity of the criminals, who sometimes act under certain guises. It is clear that those who wreck havoc on the society are from homes, families. We know also, that though men remain the heads of the families, women are the engine room. Their impact on the behaviour of their children are huge and unimaginable".

"This reality is what propelled our decision to hold this seminar. We want to make ourselves avaliable to help in the process of changing the behaviour of our children and their friends. This we can achieve through partnership with security forces and other organisations who are worried by the sorry state of the affairs".

The National President however called on all the security agencies to structure program that will involve women and families in the fight against crime and criminality. I am convinced that this will go along way in arresting the ugly security situation in the country.

"Let me thank all our guests for creating time to be here especially our Guest Lecturer
Under his watch,  crime fighting has received great attention to the extent that the activities of the unknown gunmen and miscreants have been tackled with superlative results in the affected eight local government areas of Anambra state". She added.

The Commissioner Local Government Chiftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon Tony Collins Nwabunwanne represented by Hon, Mike Okechukwu noted that women are significant beings whose services cannot be over emphasised.

According to the Commissioner, its an opportunity for the state government to partner with UBWFAN because of their tremendous contribution to the family and society in Nigeria. Owing to the fact they are responsible for the upbringing and care of children from young age to adulthood.

Pro Okunna also adviced the UBWFAN women to show Love to their husband, respect them, create job for themselves while making surethey don't let anything make them unhappy.
