A renowned medical doctor and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha Federal Constituency, Prince Dr Emeka Eze, has described water as what is very important for the health wellbeing of every individual.
Dr Eze, while giving out the benefits of drinking water to human body during a health talk said that water is life.
In his words" In as everyone is hustling to survive, let's not forget little things that matters in life.
"Keeping hydrated is crucial for health and wellbeing, but unfortunately,many people do not consume enough fluids each day.
"About 60 percent of the body is made up of water, and about 71 percent of the planet’s surface is covered by water.
"Naturally, drinking of enough water everyday should be among the daily priorities of everyone who desired better health.
"Adult humans are 60 percent water, and our blood is 90 percent water.There is no universally agreed quantity of water that must be consumed daily.
Continuing Prince Eze gave reasons human body needs water to include Lubricates the Joints,
He said that Cartilage, found in joints and the disks of the spine, contains around 80 percent water noting that Long-term dehydration can reduce the joints’ shock-absorbing ability, leading to joint pain.
Further more, " it forms Saliva and Mucus. Saliva helps us digest our food and keeps the mouth, nose, and eyes moist. This prevents friction and damage. Drinking water also keeps the mouth clean. It is advisable to consume water instead of sweetened beverages. Water can also reduce tooth decay.
"It Delivers Oxygen throughout the Body, Blood is more than 90 percent water, and blood carries oxygen to different parts of the body.
" It boosts Skin health and beauty,With dehydration, the skin can become more vulnerable to skin disorders and premature wrinkling.
"It Cushions Brain, Spinal Cord, other Sensitive Tissues, dehydration can affect brain structure and function. It is also involved in the production of hormones and neurotransmitters. Prolonged dehydration can lead to problems with thinking and reasoning.Water should be taken by all ages regularly so as to avoid dehydration.
"Water Flushes body waste,Water is needed in the processes of sweating and removal of urine and feces. Through these methods, water flushes waste out from the body.
"It helps maintain blood pressure,lack of water can cause blood to become thicker, and thereby increases blood pressure.
