NAWOJ CONGRATULATES SOLUDO
BY NKIRU NWAGBO,
Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra state chapter has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Soludo, over his victory at the just concluded gubernatorial election in Anambra state.
In a statement signed by it's state chairperson Mrs Franklyn Onyekachi and comrade Uche Nworah the state secertary noted that the election which was held on the 6th and 9th of November 2021 was keenly contested and Soludo emerged the winner.
While explaining that power comes from God, they insisted that, He gives it to whosoever He wills and called the Governor elect for Inclusivity .
According to NAWOJ" Professor Soludo has been a great achiever all his life and expectations are high. He cannot afford to let the people of Anambra down. We expect him to implement his manifesto to the letter.
"NAWOJ Anambra calls on the Governor - elect to carry the minority and vulnerable along in his government.
" The present administration of Governor Willie Obiano has done well in this regard and we expect him to do even more. We urge him to have in mind the National Gender Policy which recommends 35% affirmative action for women participation in governance as he forms his cabinet.
"NAWOJ Anambra commends the women of Ukwulu in Dunukofia Local Government Area for turning down monetary inducement to vote. Vote buying denigrates the electoral process and should be shunned. They are testaments that Anambra women are women of integrity. It is therefore heart warming that Governor Willie Obiano rewarded Mrs Eunice Ngozi Onuekwusi with one million Naira. Mrs Onuekwusi was seen in a viral video rejecting a five thousand Naira monetary inducement. Women are champions of democracy.
"We commend all the candidates who contested the gubernatorial election with Professor Soludo that have congratulated him. That is the way to go and we call on those who are yet to do so to toe same path.
"NAWOJ Anambra therefore prays that God will give Professor Soludo the wisdom just like he did to Solomon in the Bible to steer the ship of state to greater heights. They added.
