Rotary: Awka Hybrid hosts maiden Charity Hangout, Raises Over $3000 for the Foundation.

 Rotary Club of Awka Hybrid has held it's first edition of all-new project tagged "Charity Hangout" and raised over $3000 for the foundation.

The Charity Hangout was  aimed at providing a unique timeout for quality persons to meet Rotary Leaders.

The event which took place  at X-Fit Luxury Centre in Awka, Anambra State of Nigeria and simultaneously anchored online attracted  quality people worthy of becoming members of Rotary as well as Rotarians alike that  met and received the Guest of the Day, District Governor-Elect of Rotary International District 9142, Rtn Grace OKARO. 

Governor OKARO led the "Share My Story" Session to engage and  enlighten the people present on different topics ranging from benefits of Rotary, personal fulfilling experiences and importance of living a life of charity.

She commended the Rotary Club of Awka Hybrid for the innovation behind the Club's model which enables members to participate in Rotary activities, both physically and virtually; while urging members not to relent on their noble efforts.


As a result of her charges and appreciation of the impact of the Charity Hangout 1.0, participants raised the sum of three thousand one hundred dollars in support of the Rotary Foundation with assurances of fulfilling all commitments before the formal Inauguration of the Club scheduled to hold in December, 2021.

In attendance were the District Secretary, Rtn Christian Chinedu AGALA; Club President of Awka Central, Rtn Mike ONYEKA; Rtn Charles CHIKA; Rtn Chido OBIUDU (IPP of Awka); Rtn Chika IBENEME; amongst others.



Also Some Club Members present were Rtn Emmanuel NNAGBO (Chair, Rotary Foundation), Rtn Kodinna ANEKWE (Chair, PolioPlus), Rtn Alochukwu OBIANUMUO (Public Image Chair), and Rtn Chijioke ANIAGOR (Sergeant at Arms).

The donations came from everyone present including Chileta OZODILE, a friend of Rotary who was on transit but decided to breeze in and have experience of Rotary atmosphere.

A total of 17 Buildings have so far been marked for demolition in Uli Community in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state.   IPOB Suspends Sit At Home. The Indegeous People Of Biafra IPOB yesterday made a change of heart by suspending the proposed Sit At Home Order billed to commence on the fifth of November. Recall that the Director of Publicity for the body had earlier announced that it would commence a Sit At Home strike on the fifth of this month if it's leader Mazi Nnamd Kanu is not released unconditionally on the fourth of November. According to the statement signed by its Director of Publicity Comerade Emma Powerful the body said that it has to call off the Sit At Home Order following the appeal by the elders in the South East coupled with the grave economic implications of the strike on the people.   Anambra Tribunal Strikes Out Maduka Petition. Four More May Withdraw. As Soludo , Uba Set To Inspect Materials . NKIRU NWAGBO. The Anambra governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Awka today stuck out the petition filed by the candidate of Accord party Dr Godwin Maduka. Similarly there indications that four more petitioners may withdraw their petitions against the victory if the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA following alleged internal challenges that has to do with the discrepancies between the political parties and their respective candidates. Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his Enugu State counterpart, Dr Peter Mbah have pledged their solidarity and support to the administration and broad vision of the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Benard Odoh.
