Following the Nnamdi Azikiwe University students' protest for alleged hike in school fees, the University management has reverted to the 2019 agreement of consolidated school fees structure according to National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS)

Addressing Journalists in Awka yesterday  in a world press conference,  the Chairman of joint  Campus Committee of NANS Anambra State Axis Comrade Peter Onyenwife,  the chairman council of past presidents Patrick Afubere and other stakeholders of students community, Onyenwife said;

"We  have through the protest dragged the authorities to the negotiation table noting that it had agreed that payment of school fees should discontinue to give room for discussion between the students and the management with a view of addressing the concerned issues.

He said that a good number of  students did not have details and full information of the process that led to 2019 agreement.

According to him, after a brief speech to the students yesterday during a  Congress at multipurpose Hall, a lot of students came to realize that the true details of what necessitated the school fees reform of 2019 had been kept away from them.

The  Chairman of joint  Campus Committee in his words  said"  the fact that their fees put together as consolidated became lower than what they used to pay putting into consideration what they paid in the past as Departmental and faculty dues and levies.

"It is no longer a hidden facts that some persons who are not comfortable with the consolidated fees structure simply because the monies coming to them before no longer come to them, were the ones hiding under the cover of motivation, to sponsor the continued protest.

He however  urged the Student to shun further Protest and any form of violence ,  observing that the current University management, under Prof . Charles Esimone has the interest of the University at heart and is willing to work to ensure the actualization of project 200.
