Nine persons killed as unknown Gunmen attack Ukpomachi Village in Anambra.

Nine persons ,including women and children are feared dead, following an attack by unknown Gunmen  that violently attacked Ukpomachi Village, Awkuzu in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, in the early hours of today.  

According to eye an witness , the hoodlums stormed the area along the igbariam junction axis killing the people   and about twenth three cows. 

The situation caused panic and tension within the area which is largely inhabited by students of the Anambra state University, Igbariam. 

The incident which happened at about two o'clock Monday morning forced many students and residents to flee the area for fear of reprisal attacks. 

The Public Reactions officer of the University, Doctor Christian Chukwueloka in a telephone interview described the incident as  unfortunate but however noted that the school authority may not have much to do over the panic as the students resides outside the institution community. 

Confirming the incident to Radio Nigeria , the Chairman Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria , South East Zone, Gidado Sidik who visited the scene said nineteen persons including women and children were slaughtered and twenty three cows  shot by the unknown persons. 

Our Correspondent gathered that many students and residents upon hearing about the incident started relocating from their hostels while some parents drove down to pick their wards for fear of attack. 

Confirming the incident the Public Relations  Officer DSP Ikenga Tochukwu said that   
the Commissioner Of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas fsi, has ordered the immediate deployment of the Command's Operational and Intelligence assets to identify and apprehend the unknown armed men.

 According to Ikenga, a crack team of Police Operatives of the Command, led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, have visited the scene and conducted on-spot-the assessment of the incidence and have successfully restored normalcy in the area and adequate security emplaced to forestall further occurrence.

The CP assured the citizenry particularly the people of Akwuzu community the Command's to fish out the perpetrators and urged them to remain calm .

Meanwhile, Anambra State Government has Imposed Curfew On Igbariam, Aguleri, Umueri, Nteje, Awkuzu And Umunya Communities following the incident.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to  state government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu said the curfew which begins today, Monday, 26th April, 2021, is between 7pm and 6am daily.

He advised Ndi Anambra and residents of the state living in these communities to obey the curfew order,  as security personnel are on strict orders to enforce the curfew.

  IPOB Suspends Sit At Home. The Indegeous People Of Biafra IPOB yesterday made a change of heart by suspending the proposed Sit At Home Order billed to commence on the fifth of November. The Anambra governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Awka today stuck out the petition filed by the candidate of Accord party Dr Godwin Maduka. Mercy Cynthia Mmesoma Obi, popularly known as Ada Jesus has died in an Abuja hospital of complications arising from kidney failure, few days after an encounter with Onitsha-based preacher, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, alias  Odumeje , inside his church. A video surfaced recently where the 27-year-old seriously sick young lady was taken to the pastor, to whom she went to seek forgiveness for her earlier comments, suggesting that his miracles were fake.
