Anambra Born Renowned Novelist Chimamanda Adichie Loses Mother.


NKIRU NWAGBO, AWKA

Anambra Renowned Novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has become an orphan as a result of the sudden death of her mother 

Mrs. Grace Ifeoma Adichie (nee Odigwe), yesterday.

Recall that her husband, a renowned Professor of Statistics, James Adichie, died last June at 88.

The mother of renowned writer died on Monday the first day of March 2021in


Awka Anambra State.

She was 78 years old and She retired as a Registral in the University of Nigeria Nsukka .

A Source from the family said: “It was very sudden and we are devastated, her husband, a renowned Professor of Statistics, James Adichie, died last June at 88"

Mrs. Adichie is survived by six children: Ijeoma, Uchenna, Chuks, Okechukwu, Chimamanda and Kenechukwu as well as nine grandchildren, in-laws and many relatives.

The family announced that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

  IPOB Suspends Sit At Home. The Indegeous People Of Biafra IPOB yesterday made a change of heart by suspending the proposed Sit At Home Order billed to commence on the fifth of November. Recall that the Director of Publicity for the body had earlier announced that it would commence a Sit At Home strike on the fifth of this month if it's leader Mazi Nnamd Kanu is not released unconditionally on the fourth of November. According to the statement signed by its Director of Publicity Comerade Emma Powerful the body said that it has to call off the Sit At Home Order following the appeal by the elders in the South East coupled with the grave economic implications of the strike on the people.   Anambra Tribunal Strikes Out Maduka Petition. Four More May Withdraw. As Soludo , Uba Set To Inspect Materials . NKIRU NWAGBO. The Anambra governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Awka today stuck out the petition filed by the candidate of Accord party Dr Godwin Maduka. Similarly there indications that four more petitioners may withdraw their petitions against the victory if the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA following alleged internal challenges that has to do with the discrepancies between the political parties and their respective candidates. Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his Enugu State counterpart, Dr Peter Mbah have pledged their solidarity and support to the administration and broad vision of the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Benard Odoh.
